Shentel Builds Local Towers in Nelson County to Provide 4G LTE Network
Shentel invests over $350 million in wireless network
EDINBURG, VA, April 12, 2018 (NASDAQ:SHEN) — Today, Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel), a Sprint affiliate, announced that new cell sites located in Gladstone and Wingina, VA, have been built to provide and enhance coverage in the Nelson County area.
The new cell sites are equipped to provide 4G LTE, which means clearer signals, fewer dropped calls and faster download speeds to offer customers a better experience when calling, texting or streaming video. The tower enhancements will provide continuous coverage along Route 60 from Gladstone, in Nelson County, to the Buckingham County line, as well as improve coverage in the surrounding areas.
These additional sites and upgrades are part of the Shentel-owned Sprint network upgrades that started in 2017 in Virginia and West Virginia, and they will continue throughout 2018. Shentel is investing over $350 million to ensure 100% of their towers, including both new sites and existing sites, are 4G LTE, offering a better wireless experience in previously underserved areas.
“We are committed to providing the best possible customer experience throughout the Nelson County area,” said Willy Pirtle, Senior Vice President of Wireless, Shentel. “With Sprint’s exceptional value on unlimited plans and our outstanding local customer service, we are fast becoming the choice for wireless in the area.
